Abstract

The modified hip nail has the following advantages: (1) ease of insertion; (2) minimization of rotation of the femoral head when the nail is being driven in; (3) prevention of riding up of the nail on the femoral shaft; (4) minimization of the chance of splitting the femoral shaft; and (5) removal of less lateral cortex for insertion, allowing a firmer grip of the nail laterally.
