The representatives of the many organizations that provide care for patients with hip fracture assembled in Washington DC in May 2001 to specifically address the issues concerning the continuum of care. This meeting was an outgrowth of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Position Statement on Hip Fractures in Seniors (AAOS, May 1999).
