By now, just about everyone in the academic world has heard that the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) will be imposing new standards for resident work hours that will take effect commencing with the resident class in July 2003 1 . However, monitoring compliance is the charge of the Resident Review Committee and failure of a residency program to comply with the guidelines may result in loss of Resident Review Committee accreditation.
