The Journal publishes corrections when they are of significance to patient care, scientific data or record-keeping, or authorship, whether that error was made by an author, editor, or staff. Errata also appear in the online version and are attached to files downloaded from jbjs.org.
An error occurred in the article entitled "Midterm Results of Osteochondral Lesions of the Talar Shoulder Treated with Fresh Osteochondral Allograft Transplantation" (2011;93:648-54), by Adams et al. On page 648, in the Conclusions section of the Abstract, the text originally read "These midterm results in a small group of patients indicate that structural fresh-frozen allograft transplantation can be a successful surgical option in the treatment of large osteochondral defects of the talar shoulder." The text should have read "These midterm results in a small group of patients indicate that structural fresh allograft transplantation can be a successful surgical option in the treatment of large osteochondral defects of the talar shoulder." This correction has been made in the online versions of the article.
The following editorial errors occurred in the article entitled "New Insights into Wear and Biological Effects of Metal-on-Metal Bearings" (2011;93 Suppl 2:76-83), by Catelas and Wimmer. Corrections have been made in the online versions of the article.
On page 76, the affiliation that had previously read "Departments of Mechanical Engineering Surgery, and Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada" now reads "Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Surgery & Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada."
On page 79, the line that had previously read "The percentage of these needle-shaped particles was the highest with hip replacements implanted for more than twenty years38," now reads "The percentage of these needle-shaped particles was the highest with hip replacements implanted for more than twenty years (average [and standard deviation] of 28% ± 9%)38."
On page 80, the previous incorrect version of Figure 3 has been replaced with the correct version. (The correct version also appears below).
On page 82, the last line in reference 15, which had previously read "Paper no. 214," now reads "Paper no. 365." These corrections have been made in the online versions of the article.
