KUDOS for JBJS Authors
Increase the Visibility of Your JBJS Articles With Kudos: Get Found, Get Read, Get Cited
To ensure that the high-quality work of our authors reaches the widest possible audience, JBJS has partnered with Kudos, a service that provides tools for authors to maximize the visibility and reach of your published journal articles.
If you have recently had an article published in a JBJS Journal you can sign up for Kudos and begin using the service immediately, completely free of charge.
Here is a video that describes how Kudos works and the benefits to authors of taking advantage of this service.
What is Kudos?
Launched in April 2014, Kudos is a service designed to help authors and their institutions and funders maximize and measure the visibility and impact of their published articles.
Kudos is a web-based toolkit that helps authors increase the visibility and impact of the articles you publish with JBJS and other publishers. Using Kudos, you can explain and share your work with wider audiences and measure the impact this sharing has on your articles' downloads, citations, and altmetrics. Kudos is already used by more than 37,000 researchers worldwide and is supported by more than 40 publishers, including JBJS.
Does Kudos work? Well, on average, articles by authors who make use of Kudos tools are downloaded 19% more than research that has not been enhanced in this way.
How Do I Begin?
Once your account has been established, you will be able to start "claiming" your published work, explaining your articles in plain language that highlights what makes the research important; enriching your articles by adding links to related resources that help put your research in context; and sharing this enhanced content by e-mail and social media with colleagues, specialists in related fields, and others. Kudos also enables you to measure the impact of your efforts in one place against a wide range of metrics and across different publications and platforms. You will be able to determine which activities and channels are most effective for communicating about your work, enabling you to use your time efficiently.
How Much Does It Cost?
Kudos is free to authors; it only costs a limited amount of your time and attention. Otherwise, this service is supported by publishers, including JBJS, and institutions for the benefit of their authors.
It just takes a few minutes to claim and enhance your work. JBJS invites you to get started today at www.growkudos.com.

OrthoBuzz, the JBJS blog, is another way that JBJS widens our authors' audience. From each issue of JBJS, the Editor-in-Chief selects 2 or 3 timely studies for summary and comment on OrthoBuzz. In addition, each OrthoBuzz post about JBJS content automatically generates a concurrent Tweet on the JBJS Twitter feed (@jbjs) and a posting on the JBJS Facebook page.
