The introduction of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) core competencies and the institution of the eighty-hour workweek—to name just two examples—have changed residency training to such an extent that those who were trained thirty—or even ten—years ago are astonished at the difference. What should we currently expect from this changing educational process?
