However, compartment syndrome is a serious complication of lower-limb trauma that has a poor outcome1 and necessitates rapid treatment2, and its diagnosis can be problematic3. Should we risk reducing its detection with the nerve block or would an improved protocol for intravenous opioid analgesia be safer?
