These fractures are regularly associated with other injuries, including clavicular fracture (a 26% rate in one study2), fractured skull (24%2), cerebral contusion (20%2), neurologic deficit (13%2), and pulmonary contusion or hemopneumothorax (16%2). Intrathoracic displacement of a scapular fracture fragment is a rare complication of a scapular fracture.
