Despite evolving techniques, treatment of cartilage lesions in the knee remains a therapeutic challenge2. The nonoperative management of chondral injuries in young patients is often unsatisfactory for the patient and the surgeon3. Surgical options, such as microfracture, autogenous chondrocyte implantation, resurfacing techniques, and osteochondral allograft transplantation have been developed to treat cartilage defects; however, there is little Level-I or Level-II evidence to inform the decision-making process regarding the various surgical options2,3.
