Although previously known by various names, it is perhaps best known as Ollier disease, named for the physician who first described it in 18981,2. The understanding of this disease has evolved, so that there are now numerous subtypes that differ according to the various clinical and radiographic findings associated with multiple enchondromas. A review of the literature suggests that enchondromatosis may not have a typical uniform pattern of clinical appearance3-12.
