A major focus over the past year has been the controversies regarding the safety of metal-on-metal articulation couplings and the associated adverse tissue reactions. Another area of focus has been on the outcome measures and practice protocols developed with evidence-based criteria. We have also included selected citations from the most recent published and presented data on the clinical outcomes and treatment of complications following total hip arthroplasty.
