Popliteal artery injury has been estimated to occur in 0.03% to 0.17% of total knee arthroplasty procedures1,2. Direct injury of the popliteal artery, although infrequent, can have catastrophic consequences for the limb3,4 and occasionally requires further surgery, including revascularization or even amputation5.
