I read with interest the paper entitled "Outcome at Forty-five Years After Open Reduction and Innominate Osteotomy for Late-Presenting Developmental Dislocation of the Hip. Surgical Technique" (2008;90 Suppl 2 [Part 2]:238-53), by Wedge et al. Just for the sake of keeping the record straight, the authors, when describing an anterior approach to the hip, wrote, "A leash of vessels at the inferior end of the wound, marking the ascending branch of the medial circumflex femoral artery, requires cauterization to provide adequate distal exposure." They of course intended to write, "…lateral circumflex femoral artery…"
