About The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS) has been the most valued source of information for orthopaedic surgeons and researchers for over 100 years and is the gold standard in peer-reviewed scientific information in the field. A core journal and essential reading for general as well as specialist orthopaedic surgeons worldwide, The Journal publishes evidence-based research to enhance the quality of care for orthopaedic patients. Standards of excellence and high quality are maintained in everything we do, from the science of the content published to the customer service we provide.
JBJS.org is the version of record of The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery. The Journal is published twice a month on the first and third Wednesday of each month, each time adding to a comprehensive PDF archive dating back to 1889. Additional features online include: JBJS Express, interactive commenting, social sharing links, instructional videos, image quizzes, podcasts, and continuing medical education activities.
Occasionally articles are published online only and therefore do not appear in the companion printed issue. All articles are chosen via the peer-review process. JBJS Express articles are published online before they appear in an issue. This process allows The Journal to bring new research and developments to subscribers in a more timely fashion.
Contributions from anywhere in the world are welcome and considered on their merits. The manuscript must be written in English and should be submitted as outlined in the Instructions for Authors. Manuscripts are subject to blinded peer review by experts and a final decision by the editor. Papers are judged by the quality and relevance of the work, not by the country of origin, the reputation of the author, or the fame of the department. Our aim is to publish the best material available from anywhere in the world.
A History of Print
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery has its origin as the Transactions of the American Orthopedic Association. The first volume contained the proceedings of the meetings of 1887 and 1888. Volume XVI of the Transactions of the American Orthopedic Association is also Volume I of the American Journal of Orthopedic Surgery. In 1919, when the Journal became the official publication of the British Orthopaedic Association, the word American was dropped from the title and orthopedic was changed to orthopaedic. That year's volume, the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery, became a new series, Volume I.
The present title, The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, was adopted in 1922. In 1948, American and British volumes were established. The American Orthopaedic Association retained ownership of The Journal until 1954, when an independent non-profit corporation, The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Inc., was founded.
Local Editions of JBJS-Am
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery is published in both English and local languages around the globe. English language editions of The Journal are published in South Africa, the Middle East and India. Local language editions are published in Chinese and Japanese.

About JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques
Evolving Practice in Orthopaedics
JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques is a dedicated
learning environment for orthopaedic surgeons, from seasoned veterans to those
just starting out in this field.
Easy to read, easy to absorb: Each surgical
procedure is described step by step and illustrated extensively with images to
encourage greater understanding of the procedure and concepts. Video excerpts are frequent features. Indications,
contraindications, pitfalls, and challenges are clearly highlighted, and an
interactive commenting and discussion feature creates the opportunity to share
your knowledge and seek consultation on issues from the author and your peers
Peer reviewed and derived from a top-quality published
clinical article: You can be confident that these
procedures are based on solid scientific concepts, because the articles are solicited
from the authors of articles published in The Journal of Bone & Joint
Surgery. The solicited articles are subjected
to the same rigorous peer-review process as the articles on which they are
based. Then they are published online as soon as possible, so
this information reaches you earlier rather than later.

About JBJS Case Connector
Connections and Trends in Orthopaedic Surgery
JBJS Case Connector assists orthopaedic
surgeons in the search for precedents, connections, and trends in their efforts to improve patient care. Using this unique tool, surgeons can find the commonalities between
cases, benefit from the experience of their peers, and filter case information by many important variables in order to provide the best possible care for
orthopaedic patients.
This cross-referenced electronic database contains thousands of orthopaedic case
reports from the top journal in the field. It compiles symptoms, conditions, and demographic details
to empower surgeons to find cases similar to theirs and to mine the database to reveal emerging trends and
identify patterns, distinguishing between truly rare cases and repeated, related single instances of a larger problem.
Contributions to JBJS Case Connector are welcomed from anywhere in the world and are
considered on their merits. Articles must be written in English and should be
submitted as outlined in the Instructions for Authors. The peer review process is blinded; manuscripts are judged by the quality and relevance
of the work--not by the country of origin, the reputation of the author, or the fame of the department. Our aim is to
publish the best material available from anywhere in the world.
